INTERVIEW WITH ALEXANDRIA, THE STUNNING BRIDE…
How did you meet?   Logan and I were introduced at a school’s summer camp in 2010. I had just moved from Georgia and transferred to the Cocoa area. I received a job in the school daycare beginning that August, and I found out Logan was the assistant teacher for the high school department. So, we quickly became friends and soon after started dating!
How did he propose?   That Christmas he was planning on coming to Georgia to first have my Dad’s blessing and then pop the question, but unfortunately he was not able to make the trip. I gave him his gift before I left, but the ring was supposed to be my Christmas present. So, once I got back in town after New Year’s, a few weeks went by and I still never got anything from him and I started asking a lot of questions. But his hands were tied because he didn’t feel right about it without asking my Dad face to face. One night we were out and about and I guess he just couldn’t wait anymore. At the spur of the moment, we drove straight to his house, he ran inside and brought out a Tiffany & Co. bag and asked me right there on his driveway! Which was definitely not his original plan… lol but still very special.
How did you choose your venue?   Goodness, I think we looked everywhere under the sun in Brevard county before we found the perfect one! My mom was actually flipping through the Space Coast Bride and Groom magazine and came across the Heritage Isle Club in Viera. Logan and I went and looked that weekend and fell in love with it! We wanted a place that had enough room for guests to move about with a large dance floor, high ceilings, and tall windows letting in natural light. Heritage just had everything we were looking for!
Any DIY details you’d like to share?   I really had so much fun with this part of the wedding planning process! There were so many, I’ll have to choose a few favorites! I hand painted the aisle runner with our initials, date, and a design. It was one of Logan’s wedding gifts and we plan to frame that section of the runner on our wall! I put together our table numbers using antique- like picture frames with old-fashioned paper as the background and formed the numbers with large purple and silver rhinestones. I also baked all of the Italian wedding cookies that went into the guests’ favor boxes, which were tied with fleur- de- lis ribbon and embellished with the “Love gives us a fairytale†stamp. The cookie recipe was my grandmother’s, and it meant a lot for me to incorporate something in the wedding that came from her.
What is one thing you will remember most about your wedding?   The ceremony was by far one of the most memorable parts of the day, and I tried my hardest to soak up every minute of it because I knew it would fly by! Logan wrote his vows so eloquently and they were absolutely the most beautiful words that he has ever said to me and that I’ve ever heard for that matter. I am ecstatic to watch the wedding video!
What was the most challenging part of the planning process?   Definitely coordinating times for all the deliveries the day of and returns the Monday after. Also, finding a crew that would stay behind after the ceremony and help clean up the church was a little difficult. We certainly could have used a wedding planner to alleviate some of that stress!
What is your next step as husband and wife?   Well, Logan is continuing to work for an investment bank in Jacksonville, and I finally got to move into our home and get everything situated! I am finishing school at the University of North Florida for Elementary Education, and hopefully in a few short years I will be a kindergarten or first grade teacher!
